On April 5th, 2025, we did more than gather—we made history. Over 18,000 of us came together in Milwaukee as part of the Hands Off! National Day of Action, joining tens of thousands more across 400+ cities nationwide. It was a wave of people power, unified by urgency and fueled by hope.
But this was not just a moment. It was a message. A message broadcast loud and clear to three very different audiences:
1. To Musk, Trump, and the Republican Extremists: You’re Not Untouchable
The sheer size of this protest was a direct confrontation to the forces trying to dismantle our democracy. It told them plainly:
You are not all-powerful. You are not popular. You are not invincible.
Their coalition is built on fear and repression—but it’s fragile. This mass mobilization proves it. And to those still enabling the MAGA machine out of convenience or cowardice, take note:
Your allegiance is being watched. Rethink it—before it’s too late.
2. To Elected Democrats: The Time for Caution Is Over
For too long, party leaders have approached this crisis with hesitation—more concerned about optics than outcomes. That strategy ends now.
This protest wasn’t just a cry for help—it was a demand for courage.
We’re done waiting for approval from consultants. We want leadership that fights.
To Democrats in office: Find your backbone. Lead, or step aside.
The people are awake. We’re mobilized. And we’re not interested in business as usual.
3. To Everyone Else: You Are Not Alone
Perhaps the most powerful message from April 5th was this: you’re not alone.
Fascists want us isolated. They want us to feel powerless. But this protest proved otherwise.
For thousands of people, it was their first protest—and nearly every one of them said the same thing:
“I’m ready for the next one.”
That’s how movements grow. That’s how democracy defends itself. We just rolled out the welcome mat for millions of new activists—and we’re just getting started.
