Letters from the community

Brad Schimel’s (non)handling of 6,000 sexual assault kits is so disgraceful that the fact that he is still a judge in Waukesha County is an embarrassment to the citizens of the county and the State of Wisconsin.  It is an old axiom—justice delayed is justice denied. Never more so than in this set of facts.

Every one of us has two grandmothers and a mother.  In my case I also have aunts, female cousins, three sisters, a wife, a daughter and two granddaughters.  Sexual assault is nasty business.  So, for that matter, is denying abortion to women seeking that medical remedy for any number of reasons.

It is up to our society to protect and nurture all its members.  That protection includes providing timely production of evidence and abortion to those who require it.  Brad Schimel has failed us here.

All of the male members of our society should understand that abortion is not just a woman’s issue.   Abortion on every level is as much a man’s concern as it is for all the women in his family.
